You will learn how to create a GTI energy system in Evaluate.
Creating a GTI energy system
Evaluate’s GTI Energy system designer is a tool for quickly configuring solar energy systems using basic parameters like mounting type, azimuth, and tilt. The system can be later simulated to estimate energy yield based on global tilted irradiation at a specific location.
We also offer a standalone GTI configuration tool if you want to get the GTI parameters quickly. You can use this version if you need the GTI parameters only, without the need for subsequent simulation of PVOUT parameters.
Important: The GTI energy system is not working with the terrain data.
To create a new GTI energy system:
Open your project.
Go to Project/Energy system.
Click the “+Create” button and select GTI energy system in the Alternative energy system table.
Select the energy system mounting type.
Click “OK” to submit. A GTI energy system designer will open.
Note: The energy system will be generated with default values of azimuth, tilt, or rotation limits (for tracker tables)
The GTI energy system designer
The GTI energy system designer page shows a 3D interactive graphics illustration of the system relative to the sun’s path.
You can change the azimuth, tilt, or rotation to position the table differently and use the sun’s plot sliders to view the sun’s path projection on the table. Any change in the mounting settings will be immediately reflected in the system for better illustration.

Change the mounting type.
Adjust the mounting parameters. You can also edit or download far horizon data here if required.
Save the changes.

Getting the GTI specification parameters
You can use the GTI energy system designer to configure energy system parameters and get the location’s GTI data, such as far horizon and albedo, for further processing. You can later use it for Time Series and TMY data download using the Solargis Time Series or TMY data API.
Navigate to File/Copy GTI specification.
The GTI specification can be found in the tab labeled "GTI specification," which contains detailed information on azimuth, tilt, height, surface albedo, and mounting type.
The “Sample Time Series API request” tab contains the JSON code required to obtain Time Series data for your location (related to this GTI configuration).
Use this button to copy the specification from the currently selected tab. You can use it to copy the sample API request and paste it into the body message of the Time Series requestId request.
Use the link to get to the relevant API documentation where you can use the sample API request to retrieve your Time Series data.
Saving your GTI energy system and simulating energy yield data
After you have set all parameters, save your energy system using “Save" button, and close the designer. Your new energy system will be added to your project’s energy systems list on Energy System page.
Note: The energy system feasibility data has not yet been generated, and its status will indicate “Not calculated.” You must simulate it to generate its data.
