# Solargis data download

**In this document**

You will learn how to download Time Series and TMY data from the Solargis platform.

## Prerequisites

- An active Solargis Evaluate account.
- Admin rights, for editing purposes.
- A project created within Evaluate with a PV-configured system.
- A simulation performed for a project.

## Prerequisites to the data download

You must complete several steps before you can download data from the Solargis platform.

1. Login to your [Solargis](https://apps.solargis.com/home/dashboard) account and click the Evaluate card on the dashboard to open the Evaluate application. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/ae2d502f-6c0d-4865-a68e-43ad8da61149/Images/Documentation/image(570).png)
2. [Create a new project](https://kb.solargis.com/docs/onboarding#creating-your-projects) or open an existing one. (Data downloads are directly linked to the project location).
3. [Activate your project](https://kb.solargis.com/docs/onboarding#activate-project-to-get-solargis-data) to generate its data. The activation will determine what data will be available for you to download or use in simulations:
  1. **Early stage** - Only **TMY P50**data are available for download and use in the GTI simulation.
  2. **Full Evaluation** - In addition to the **TMY P50**, **TMY Pxx** and **Time Series** data are also available to download or use in the GTI simulation.
4. Create and simulate [GTI energy system](/v1/docs/creating-gti-energy-system) - you need to perform this step if you want to download GHI and horizon data for your location.

> **Tip**: If you have chosen the **Early stage** and would also like to download **Time Series** data, you can upgrade your project to Full evaluation from the project page.

## Selecting the correct dataset

After you have activated the project and, if you require GHI or horizon data, created and simulated the GHI energy system, you must select which data you want to make available for download and to display in the Analysis section. You can do it using the [energy system selector](https://kb.solargis.com/docs/data-analysis#energy-system-selector-and-displayed-data) on the project **Overview page**.

Depending on the project activation stage, you may select:

- Solargis TMY P50
- Solargis Time Series
- GTI system (once created)

## Downloading the data

To download data for your location:

1. Navigate to the **Download section/Data**.
2. Click the**“Prepare data export”** link and select**“Solar and meteo data”.**

1. In the next popup, select the**data source, dataset,**and **temporal resolution** by clicking the Data dialog. Remember - availability of the data formats depends on your **project activation stage** or purchased add-ons.
2. Select one of the available **data formats** (JSON by default).
3. Use the checkbox to include/exclude **horizon shading data**in the export.
4. Click **“Generate”** to generate your data.

> [!TIP]
> **Note**: Your data will start to generate after you submit the request. It may take a moment depending on the size of your project and selected data granularity.

Generated datasets are listed in the Data exports table. Click the **“Download”** link to download it.

You can learn more about how to generate datasets in our [Knowledge base](/v1/docs/project-reports-and-data-exports#generating-data-exports).

## Downloading horizon data

You can download your project horizon data from the GTI Energy system designer:

1. Open your project and navigate to the **Energy system page**.
2. Click the**“Create”** button and select **GTI energy system**. A GTI energy system designer will open. Select any mounting in the first popup and confirm. If you already have a GTI energy system created, enter the designer by clicking the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/ae2d502f-6c0d-4865-a68e-43ad8da61149/Images/Documentation/image-UJXRJ2BS.png) button.

1. In the **Horizon section** to the right, click the**“Edit”**button to open the horizon editor.
2. Open the **three-dot menu** and click **“Export to HOR file.”** Choose a destination and save the file to your computer.
