# Security

**In this document**

This document explains the Security settings page of the user profile, where you can change the password, set up two-factor authentication, and manage passkeys for secure login.

## Prerequisites

- An active Solargis account.
- Admin rights, for editing purposes.

## User Security page

The security pages allows you to change your Solargis account password and to add additional security measures to your account like setting up Two-Factor authentication method or Passkey.

The user security page can be accessed through the User Settings menu, by selecting the security tab.

How is the login process affected depending on the security method used:

For the **Two‑Factor Authentication**: After entering your password, you’ll need to confirm your identity with a second step, defined by your authentication app, for example:

- Push notification
- 6‑digit verification code (TOTP)
- Phone call
- SMS code
- Email verification code

For the **Passkey**: You will log in without a password, using your device’s fingerprint, face ID, or PIN to instantly confirm it’s you.

## Change your password

To change the user password, perform the following steps:

1. Enter your current password
2. Enter new password
3. Click Update Password

> **Note**: After clicking the Update Password button a green banner appears at the bottom of the screen with the message “Password has been changed” confirming the password chance is completed.

## Authentication Options

The authentication options section allows you to add a **Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)** and set up a **Passkey**.

### **Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) setup**

The **Two-Factor Authentication** allows you to add an extra layer of security to your account.

To start the **Two Factor Authentication** process, click the **Setup authenticator app** option. After clicking, the enable Two-Factor verification window appears, you can use any of this two options to set up your authentication app:

- Scanning the code with your authenticator app.
- Directly entering your security code in you authenticator app.

### **Passkey setup**

The **Passkey** setup allows you to set up a hardware device or software credential that uses fingerprint, face recognition, or screen lock to confirm your identity securely.

To begin the **Passkey** setup select the **Add passkey** option, and follow the instructions provided by your system software.
