The section offers **Site properties**, **Terrain**, **Constraints**, and **Imports** categories. Together, these define the ground your design sits on and the limits it must respect — before you place a single array. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/ae2d502f-6c0d-4865-a68e-43ad8da61149/Images/Documentation/image-4XPWU88A.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-30T05%3A20%3A55Z&se=2026-10-30T06%3A20%3A55Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=06CJ5feJuIsaZ%2FojYYcRHnTDgKuUpWs2O7KdYKvs9Ro%3D) > **Tip**: If you want to explore the file import options, read the dedicated [Imports and KML files](/v1/docs/imports-and-kml-files) guide. ## Site properties The **Site properties** hold the basic parameters of your project's reference point — GPS coordinates, slope, azimuth, and altitude — together with the segment type, the site-level horizon, and the terrain approximation method applied across the site. Learn what each parameter does and how to switch between the adaptive and planar surface approximation methods in [Site properties](/v1/docs/site-properties). ## Terrain The **Terrain properties** define the ground surface the 3D scene is built from. Here you choose the elevation model — a Solargis default or your own imported profile — display the terrain wireframe, and review the site's albedo data. Learn how to change the elevation model and how to use the slope exceedance visualization and terrain collision highlight in [Terrain properties](/v1/docs/terrain-properties). ## Constraints The **Constraints** section collects every restricted area, restricted line, and shading line object present in the design. These represent areas the installation must avoid, such as rock formations, swamps, or maintenance paths, and objects that cast shadows on it. Learn how to manage existing constraints and what properties each type offers in [Constraints](/v1/docs/design-constraints). To draw new ones, see [Adding restricted areas and lines](/v1/docs/adding-restricted-areas) and [Adding shading objects](/v1/docs/adding-shading-objects).
