You will learn how to create a GTI energy system in Evaluate.
Creating a GTI energy system
The GTI energy system is not working with the terrain data.
To create a new GTI energy system:
Open your project.
Go to Project/Energy system.
Click the “+Create” button and select GTI energy system in the Alternative energy system table.
You will be redirected to the energy system designer’s general settings page. You can skip the configuration on this page and return to it later.
Switch to the System tab.
Select the energy system mounting type.
Click “OK” to submit.
The energy system will be generated with default values of azimuth, tilt, or rotation limits (for tracker tables)
The GTI energy system designer
The GTI energy system designer page shows a 3D interactive graphics illustration of the system relative to the sun’s path.
You can change the azimuth, tilt, or rotation to position the table differently and sun’s plot sliders to view the sun’s path projection on the table. Any change in the mounting settings will be immediately reflected in the system for better illustration.
To customize the available parameters, switch the Default to Manual and enter your custom values. The changes are reflected on the 3D map in real time.
Switch between the General and System tabs.
Adjustable sliders to change the sun’s position in real-time.
Map view selectors.
Summary of the sun’s position based on current time/date slider settings.
Change the mounting type.
Adjust the mounting parameters.
A button to save the changes.
General energy system settings
The General tab gives you a brief overview of the energy system and lets you select the simulation data input or modify the horizon.
Selecting the correct simulation data input is essential since this will determine the accuracy and scale of the calculations.
Selector | Description | Example |
---|---|---|
Data source | This is the source of solar, meteorological, and geographical data used for calculations. | Solargis v1.3.2024 - FTS - full-Time Series of Solargis data |
Dataset | Type of the dataset the data source offers. | Time series in UTC-07 - complete 15-minute time series dataset TMY P50 in UTC-07 - typical metrological year averages dataset calculated using the most-representative months with a 50% probability |
Albedo | The reflectivity of the surface in the selected location. | You can use a constant for the year or monthly averages instead. The values are editable if required. |
Additionally, you can examine default Solargis horizon shading caused by far horizon calculated using Solargis geo data. You can customize the far shading horizon using the “Modify horizon” button if required.
Every new energy system uses Solargis horizon shading data by default unless modified.
Saving your GTI energy system and simulating energy yield data
After you have set all parameters, save your energy system using “Save" button, and close the designer. Your new energy system will be added to your project’s energy systems list on Energy Systems page.
The energy system feasibility data has not yet been generated, and its status will indicate “Not calculated.” You must simulate it to generate its data.
