# Application settings and personalization

**In this document**

We will show you how to personalize the application and access the application’s general settings.

## Prerequisites

- An active Solargis Analyst account.
- Installed an Analyst desktop application.

## Personalizing the Analyst application

Analyst application can be configured to match your color preferences, manage quality control flags, or customize charts displayed in the Analysis. On top of that, you can add your own measuring instruments if it’s not listed in the default instruments list. This configuration is available via the **application’s settings**.

#### Accessing the Settings

The Analyst settings are accessible via the main menu in the **Project category**. We will introduce each section of the settings separately in the following chapters.

> **Tip**: Most of the categories contain **“Reset to defaults”** button. Use it to clear all customizations and return the particular settings to defaults.

## General settings

This settings section lets you change the following configuration parameters:

- **Log level**: Determines how often the application log will be recorded. Useful when tackling issues and frequent/more detailed logging is required.
- **Working directory**: Sets the default working directory.
- **Database and cache memory timeouts**: Increase these values when encountering timeout errors.
- **Startup options**: Defines what the application shows on startup.

## Login configuration

If you are connecting via a proxy network, you can set it up in the **Login configuration** section. Once you set the connection, you can test it using the **“Test connection”**button. Your login details are also displayed here for tracking, and the login timeout can be set to up to 60 seconds.

## Flags settings

The application offers over 50 default flags with default colors that it uses to flag data during the quality control checks. You can customize the color of any default flag or add new flags if required.

1. **Flag ID**: Helps to track flags by their ID.
2. **Flag color**: Flag color is used to segregate different flags when displayed with the data. You can change the default colors if required.
3. **Validity indicator**: indicates if the flagged data is still valid (True) or not (False).
4. **Flag description**: Describes what the flag means.

## Graphs customization

This****section provides access to various graph and chart parameters to customize their looks.

- **Axes**: Define the size of the labels displayed on the chart axes.
- **Plot**: Add preferred line width, marker style, and marker width.
- **Scatterplot**: Decide how to display the markers.

## Quality control settings

Quality control setting offers the following options:

- **Solar radiation**: You can change the methodology used for Solar radiation quality checks.
- **Interactive QC**: Use the checkbox if you want solar parameters to be selected by default when opening QC windows.
- **Time Series**: Use the checkbox if you want to rescale the graphs after the redraw (zooming, etc.)

## Instruments

The **Instruments section** provides a full list of instruments the Analyst application offers to pair with the measured data (e.g., during import). Instruments can be filtered by name, parameter type, or manufacturer. Every filter change must be confirmed by **clicking the “Apply”** button to reflect the changes. You can add new instruments if required.

> **Tip**: You can edit or remove custom (added) instruments only. The default instruments can not be edited or removed.

## Color palette settings

The Palette section lets you configure the color palette for charts. You can expand the default palette with more parameters and add further colors if required. This is useful when, for example, you have multiple readings from various instruments and want to display each reading with a different color for clarity. Additionally, you can define the default chart line width and its opacity for every parameter separately.

1. Click to change the **parameter color**.
2. **Add new****parameter****type**.
3. **Add additional color** to the parameters.
